Room for grief

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

A new book by Mary Brady explores grief through art, poetry, and scripture.  Time Without You: Moving through the Rooms of Grief, has been launched by Myles O’Reilly, Chaplain for the Bethany Bereavement Support Group.

Mary’s artwork including pencil drawings, oils, charcoals, sculptures and embroidery, and diary entries and poetry - all of which illustrate the text.  She writes about, and takes the reader with her, on her journey through grief and attempts to make sense of the loss of her husband.

“Mary’s soul-bearing honesty in sharing her most testing moments is done in the hope that it would offer a glimmer of light and encouragement to those struggling through the confusion and pain of bereavement,” said Triona McKee, Messenger Publications which published the book.

The publishers describe the book as one woman's personal experience of grief and some of the creative ways she used to help her cope with her loss, and find a way to live again.  It is hoped it will be an encouragement to those who are struggling through the confusion, pain and misery of bereavement.
